The name Van Cliburn represents an unparalleled commitment to the highest standards of musical achievement. Thirty finalists from around the world participated in the thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in May and June of 2009. The LPAC is privileged to be one of the first venues in the world to present, in a solo concert, the esteemed winner of the gold medal, Mr. Haochen Zhang (19) of China. Former competitors Alexander Korbin of Russia (Gold 2005) and Davide Cabassi of Italy (Finalist 2005) performed in previous LPAC seasons, and the 2009 Gold Medal Winner will surely continue this distinguished tradition.
