In the late 1800s, an eleven-year-old Native Hawaiian boy accidentally strikes the strings of his guitar with a railroad-track bolt — and unlocks an entirely new sound.

Based on a true story, this Honolulu Theatre for Youth production traces the invention of the steel guitar from the taro fields of Hawaiʻi to vaudeville halls and on into Blues, Country, and Rock and Roll. With a live slide-guitar soundtrack and rich projection design, it celebrates innovation, engineering, and the global exchange of ideas — and encourages every young person to celebrate their voice, their culture, and their curiosity.
