Ireland to America

Specializing in the traditional folk music of Ireland and America, Golden Bough presents an educational, entertaining and FUN look at the music of other lands. Many favorite American folk songs are based on traditional Irish music, first brought over to this country by immigrants, then absorbed into the new American culture.  Golden Bough musicians Margie Butler, Paul Espinoza, and Kathy Sierra sing and play a variety of traditional instruments throughout the show including the Celtic harp, violin, guitar, harmonica, accordion, penny-whistle, and even spoons. Students are encouraged to clap and sing along.  Golden Bough also encourages students to use their own imaginations to create music – perhaps with items that are not the usual musical instruments!
