The Los Angeles-based TAIKOPROJECT unites the propulsive and intricate sounds of Japanese taiko drumming with koto, marimba, and shinobue – as well as vocals and stunning choreography – to combine the visceral power of this traditional music, alongside contemporary taiko songs composed by the group. Founded in 2000 by a group of young, emerging taiko drummers led by Bryan Yamami and Masato Baba, TAIKOPROJECT continues to define a modern American style of taiko, blending traditional forms with an innovative and fresh aesthetic. TAIKOPROJECT burst on the scene in 2005, becoming the first American taiko group to win the prestigious Tokyo International Taiko Contest, besting all Japanese taiko groups in the competition. TAIKOPROJECT has performed and recorded with Stevie Wonder, Peter Gabriel and Alicia Keys. Join us for a stunning night with TAIKOPROJECT.
